Wedding rings are a core part of Simon Alexander's practice — we have been hand-making them in our Adelaide boutique for over 25 years, and they remain one of the most rewarding parts of the work we do.

What sets a wedding ring specialist apart
A wedding ring isn't a fashion piece. It is built to be worn every day for decades, against skin and bone and water and the small accidents of daily life. That puts it under demands most jewellery never sees. A wedding band that looks beautiful in the box can develop thin spots, lost detail, or unstable settings within a few years if it wasn't engineered for that wear.
Specialising in wedding rings means understanding the engineering, not just the design. It means choosing the right metal for the wearer's lifestyle — platinum for someone who works with their hands, 18ct gold for someone who wants the warmth of colour, comfort-fit profiles for thicker fingers, flat profiles that slide under gloves. It means setting any diamonds in a way that minimises snag points. It means finishing the inside of the band as carefully as the outside.
These are the details we obsess over. They're invisible to the wearer in the moment of purchase, but they decide whether the ring still looks right in 2046.
Made in Adelaide, by hand
Every wedding ring leaving our boutique at 14 King William Street is made here, by hand, by jewellers we have worked alongside for years. Nothing is outsourced. That single fact changes everything about the experience — turnaround time, ability to adjust mid-process, ongoing aftercare. If a ring needs a polish or a re-sizing five years after it left, the same workshop is here to do it.
Bespoke wedding bands and matching sets
The most popular wedding ring path we offer is fully bespoke. Couples come to us with an engagement ring — sometimes one we made, sometimes not — and we design a matched band that complements its profile, its setting, and the wearer's lifestyle. We can also make matching his-and-hers sets, eternity bands, anniversary pieces, and remodelled bands that incorporate stones from earlier rings.
If you'd rather start from a finished design, our wedding bands collection shows the styles we make most often — plain bands, diamond-set bands, channel-set, milgrain, knife-edge, comfort fit, two-tone. Each can be adapted in metal, width, finish, or stone choice without starting from scratch.
Booking and lead times
Wedding ring consultations are unhurried and complimentary. Allow about an hour for the first meeting. Lead time from approval to finished ring is typically 3–6 weeks depending on complexity; we always recommend starting at least eight weeks before the wedding date.
