Every ring on this page is a Simon Alexander design, drawn in our King William Street boutique and made to order around the diamond you choose. Nothing here is lifted from a tray. You choose the design, the carat and the metal; we make the ring — Australian made, set and hand-finished at our Adelaide bench — and hand it to you in four to six weeks, with its certificate.

Simon Alexander is an independent manufacturing jeweller. We are not a chain and we are not a reseller. The designs are ours, the diamond is chosen with you, loupe in hand, and the person who draws your ring is the same diamantaire who will tell you when the cheaper stone is the better stone.

How an engagement ring is made with us

The process is the same whether you begin from one of the named designs below or from a blank page.

• A conversation first. Walk in, or book a private viewing. We talk about the person the ring is for, the shapes they are drawn to, how they use their hands, and what you would like to spend. You see diamonds side by side under proper light, so the difference between grades is something you have looked at rather than read about.
• A design you approve. Simon draws the ring for you — the setting, the profile of the band, the way the claws hold the stone — and you see it from several angles before anything is made. You change it until it is right. Nothing proceeds without your yes.
• Made to order. Once approved, your ring is made around your chosen diamond. Allow four to six weeks from approval. If you have a date in mind, tell us early and we will work to it; for Christmas, order or approve your design by Tuesday 1 December 2026.
• Set and hand-finished at our Adelaide bench. Our jewellers set the diamond, then hand-finish and polish the ring. Every ring is Australian made, checked by us, and presented to you in the boutique or delivered, complimentary, anywhere in Australia.

The named designs

The thirty-three round brilliant rings in this collection are named designs. Each was drawn by Simon, each has its own character, and each is available in any metal and at any of the listed carats. A few worth knowing:

• Sasha — four claws holding the centre stone above a band of shared-claw accent diamonds. Our most commissioned design, and the one people most often say they did not know they wanted.
• Grace — a tapered solitaire. The band narrows as it rises to the stone, which makes the diamond read larger than its carat. Restraint, done properly.
• June — a round brilliant raised on six fine claws so light reaches the diamond from every angle, with a marquise-cut diamond at each shoulder. Quietly architectural.
• Casey — the classic four-claw solitaire. The starting point for many of the rings we make, and a design that will not date.
• Nadia — four claws over a bead-set band: a line of small diamonds without the weight of a full pavé.
• Marni — a round brilliant flanked by tapered baguettes, for a cleaner, Deco-leaning line.
• Jenna and Skye — halo designs, where a ring of small diamonds frames the centre stone and lifts its presence on the hand.
• Emma, Faith and April — double halos, for the most light and the most ring.

Every one of these can be adjusted: a different claw count, a knife-edge band, a hidden halo, a coloured stone at the shoulders. If you like the bones of a design but not one detail, that detail is a conversation, not a compromise. What a diamond engagement ring costs in Adelaide

The prices on this page are real. Each is the finished ring — setting, metal and the feature diamond at the stated carat — and they are published so you can plan before you speak to anyone.

• From about $2,950 for a solitaire such as Grace, Casey, Katie or Fiona with a 0.50ct natural round brilliant in 9ct gold.
• Above that, the designs with accent diamonds along the band — Sasha, Chloe, Kylie, Julia — the halo designs Jenna and Skye, June, and the double halos Emma, Faith and April, each rising with the carat and the metal you choose.
• Every price is live: the price of each design, at every carat and in every metal, is shown on its page.

The natural diamonds listed on these designs are F–G colour and VS2–SI1 clarity, as shown on each ring's page: the range where a stone is white and clean to the eye without paying for grades that only a laboratory can see. A larger stone, a higher grade or a specific certificate is simply a quote. Whatever the budget, a good ring exists within it, and we will show you where.

Natural or lab-grown, certified either way

The rings on this page are natural-diamond rings, and every natural feature diamond we set carries a GIA report — the reference standard, and the document that makes a stone's grade a fact rather than an opinion. Many of these designs are also listed with a lab-grown diamond, at a lower price for the same size and with an IGI report; those are in our lab-grown collection.

We set both, and we do not sell one against the other. Natural and lab-grown are both diamond; they differ in origin and in price. Sit with both in front of you and decide with the loupe in your hand. If the smaller, better-cut natural stone is the one that makes the ring, we will say so. If a lab-grown stone gets you the carat you want and leaves money for the wedding, we will say that too.

Other shapes

This page holds our round brilliant designs. The same drawings are made around oval, cushion, emerald, pear and princess cut diamonds, each in its own collection. An elongated shape reads larger than a round of the same carat and lengthens the finger; a cushion softens; an emerald or princess cut reads cleaner and more architectural. If you are undecided, start with the shape and let the setting follow, and try each on the hand rather than on a screen.

Metals

Every design is made in 9ct, 14ct or 18ct gold — white, yellow or rose, priced the same whichever colour you choose — and in platinum. 18ct is our default: rich in colour, and dense enough to hold claws securely for life. White gold wears a bright rhodium finish that is refreshed over the years; platinum is naturally white and never needs it. If you are unsure, we will put both on your hand and let you look.

An independent manufacturing jeweller on King William Street

Simon Alexander has been designing fine engagement rings in Adelaide since 2001. Simon Dimasi is a diamantaire and the author of A Diamond Truth, an honest guide to choosing a diamond, and every ring here is drawn and overseen by him. Since 2020 we have been the official maker of the SANFL premiership rings, which is a fair measure of how a ring from this boutique is expected to hold up.

Being independent means the decisions are made in the room with you. There is no head office pricing the diamond, no catalogue we are obliged to sell from, and no one reading from a script. It is why a ring here can be built around an unusual stone, an inherited diamond, or an idea that does not have a setting yet.

Visiting the boutique

We are at Level 1, 14 King William Street in the Adelaide CBD, a short walk from Rundle Mall and Victoria Square. Walk in during opening hours — Monday to Friday 9:30am to 5:30pm, Saturday 10am to 4pm — or book a private viewing so Simon can sit with you personally. What to bring: a sense of the shapes and styles your partner likes (screenshots are fine), a rough finger size if you have one — a ring they already wear is enough — and a budget you are comfortable with. Nothing else. There is no pressure in the room and no obligation when you leave.

How much does an engagement ring cost in Adelaide?

At Simon Alexander, natural diamond engagement rings start from about $2,950 for a solitaire such as Casey with a 0.50ct GIA-certified diamond in 9ct gold. Accent, halo and double-halo designs, larger carats, and 18ct gold or platinum sit above that, and each design's price for every carat and metal is shown on its page. The same designs with a lab-grown diamond start from under $2,000 at 1.00ct in 9ct yellow gold. Every price is the finished ring, diamond included.

How long does it take to make an engagement ring?

Allow four to six weeks from the day you approve the design. That covers making the ring around your chosen diamond, setting, hand-finishing and a final check at our Adelaide bench. If you are working to a proposal date, tell us at the first conversation and we will plan backwards from it.

Are your engagement rings designed and finished in Adelaide?

Every ring is designed in our Adelaide boutique on King William Street, is Australian made, and is set and hand-finished by our own jewellers at our Adelaide bench. You deal with the people who design and finish your ring, not a call centre, and you can collect it from the same room where it was drawn, or have it delivered, complimentary, anywhere in Australia.

Should I choose a natural or a lab-grown diamond?

Both are diamond, and many of these designs are also listed with a lab-grown diamond, and we are happy to make any of them either way: natural with a GIA report, lab-grown with an IGI report. Natural stones hold a place in many people's minds that no price can replace; lab-grown gives a larger stone for the same money. See both under the loupe, then decide. We will give you a straight opinion.

Can I see the diamond before it is set?

Yes, and we would prefer you did. Choosing the stone is the most important decision in the ring, so we show you options side by side under proper light, with the certificate beside each. Once you have chosen, that exact diamond, matched to its report, is the one set into your ring.

What if I do not know the ring size?

Bring a ring your partner already wears on that finger, or a photo of it beside a coin for scale, and we will get close. If the fit is not perfect after the proposal, the first resize is complimentary, so the size is never a reason to delay the question.

Can I change a design, or combine two?

Yes. The named designs are starting points, not fixed products. Change the claw count, the band profile, add a hidden halo or shoulder stones, or take the setting from one design and the band from another. Simon draws the result so you approve it before anything is made.

What certificate comes with the ring?

Natural feature diamonds come with a GIA diamond grading report stating carat, colour, clarity and cut. Lab-grown feature diamonds come with an IGI report, which also records their origin. Alongside the report you receive a current insurance valuation from us, so the ring is covered from the day you take it home.
