Privacy Policy
Simon Alexander Jewellers (we, us) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
1. What we collect
We collect only what we need to look after you:
- When you enquire, book or order: your name, email address, phone number, delivery address, and the details of what you're after — including things like finger size, design preferences, budget and important dates.
- When you buy: order and payment details. Card payments are processed by our payment providers — we never see or store your full card number.
- When you use the site: standard technical information such as your IP address, browser, pages viewed and how you reached us, collected through cookies and analytics.
- When you contact us: the content of your emails, messages, chat conversations and booking notes, so we can pick up where we left off.
We don't collect sensitive information, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.
2. Why we collect it
To design, quote, make and deliver your piece; to answer your enquiries and book appointments; to provide after-care such as resizing, cleaning and servicing reminders; to process payments; to meet our record-keeping obligations; and — only where you've agreed — to let you know occasionally about our work.
3. Marketing and your choices
We only send marketing messages where you've opted in or where we're otherwise permitted to. Every message includes a way to opt out, and you can ask us to stop at any time by replying STOP to an SMS, using the unsubscribe link in an email, or contacting us directly. We'll action it promptly. You can still receive service messages about an order or appointment.
4. Who we share it with
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it for other companies' marketing.
We share only what's necessary with the service providers who help us run the business — our website and hosting platform, payment processors, delivery and insured-freight carriers, email and SMS providers, our booking calendar and analytics tools, and the specialist trades who help make and certify your piece. Some of these providers store data overseas; we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled appropriately wherever it's held.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or where it's necessary to protect our rights or someone's safety.
5. Cookies and analytics
Our site uses cookies to keep it working properly and to understand how it's used, including Google Analytics. You can set your browser to refuse cookies, though parts of the site may not work as well. Our online concierge answers questions about our jewellery and services; please don't share sensitive personal or payment details in chat.
6. Security and retention
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit who can see your details and keep them only as long as we need them — for customer records, that includes keeping enough history to service and value a piece we made for you years later, and to meet our legal obligations.
7. Accessing or correcting your information
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we're not required to keep it. Contact us using the details below and we'll respond within a reasonable time. There's no charge for this.
8. Complaints
If you think we've mishandled your personal information, please tell us first — we'd like the chance to put it right. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
9. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always published here.
